THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — This fundraising fair is on fire! It’s been happening since 1883, a long weekend to support and celebrate the volunteer firemen of Thibodaux.

“So, about 50% of the funds from the fair support the fire department. It’s grown throughout the years to what it is today,” said Firemen’s Fair Grand Marshal Grady Gaubert.

If you’re all about the rides, save money with a “pay-one-price” bracelet good for a whole day or a mega pass good for every day of the four-day event.

There’s no entrance fee to the fair, and you could come home richer. A $15,000 raffle is the grand finale of a long list of raffle prizes, including more cash, gift cards and jewelry. It’s a $1 donation per chance, and you don’t need to be present to win.

“There’s an auction which really attracts a lot of people. We have donors from the community. We have hundreds and hundreds of items to auction off. There are two auctions, one on Saturday and a big one on Sunday,” said Gaubert.

When it comes to free entertainment, this year, they’re taking it up a notch.

“We have a bigger stage, a band stage. We have two nationally recognized bands, Puddle of Mudd and Travis Dening, along with an assortment of other bands. We have zydeco music, swamp pop, traditional rock, a bunch of different types of bands, all good bands,” said Gaubert.

The multi-platinum-selling rock band Puddle of Mudd headlines Saturday night, scheduled to hit the stage at 10:30 p.m. and play until midnight.

But the true rock stars this weekend are the volunteer firefighters.

Cheer them on and say thank you during Sunday’s parade, when the latest gear will be rolling down the streets of Thibodaux. It begins at 11 a.m. and ends at the fairgrounds.

“Enjoy the food, the entertainment, come to the auction, just have a great weekend. Enjoy yourself, it’s a lot of fun. We look forward to seeing you there,” said Gaubert.

Stop what you’re doing, drop your cares for a while and let the good times roll.
