NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Watch every Thursday morning as WhereYat.com and Where Y’at Magazine bring the top picks of great things to do in the beautiful city of New Orleans.

Happy first day of Spring in New Orleans – an international city that celebrates its unique heritage through sensational spring festivals. Prepare to enjoy worldwide culture from France, Africa, and even Acadiana – here are Where Y’at’s weekend picks!

Some of this weekend’s events include:

  • America’s national spirit is Bourbon, and this weekend’s New Orleans Bourbon Fest is a fit for all Bourbon lovers…with seminars and samplings, as well as tonight’s special dinners paired with bourbon cocktails. The Grand Tasting at the CAC is both tomorrow and Saturday evenings, with VIP options available.
  • Celebrate Acadian heritage and food at the Louisiana Crawfish Fest at the Frederick Sigur Civic Center, starting today and running through the weekend. There’ll be live Cajun music as well as Bag of Donuts and others. The festival also features carnival rides, a pageant, and of course, plenty of crawfish!
  • Next, pay respect to the embedded history of African peoples at the free Congo Square Rhythms Festival this weekend in Armstrong Park. The festivities will showcase African influence via the music, food, and dance that New Orleans is known for…with drum circles, Mardi Gras Indians, and more.
  • Vive’ la France! Fete Francaise is Saturday: a fun-filled day celebrating French heritage. The free uptown block party is on the corner of General Pershing and Magazine streets and will include French food and drinks, musical performances by Galactic and others, kids’ activities, and much more.
  • Finally, looking to renovate your home? The Pontchartrain Home Show takes place this weekend at the Pontchartrain Center. The event showcases the latest in kitchens, bathrooms, solar, and more…as well as the Louisiana Food Fest, with recipes and free food samples.

If you love festivals, then keep an eye out, this weekend, for the new Spring Festivals issue of Where Y’at Magazine…found at over 650 spots around town, and online at WhereYat.com…with previews of all the great spring festivals, as well as exciting Easter festivities, and more!
