NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Watch every Thursday morning as WhereYat.com and Where Y’at Magazine bring the top picks of great things to do in the beautiful city of New Orleans.
Get ready for throws: the greatest free party on earth is starting with Cleopatra, Excalibur and other parades. But this weekend also features thrilling theater, electrifying live music, and dreadful dinosaurs – here are Where Y’at’s picks!
Some of this weekend’s events include:
- First, Family Gras starts tomorrow with three days of free non-stop fun on Veterans Boulevard near Lakeside Shopping Center…with parades, live music, and tasty bites. Performers include Amy Grant, Cheap Trick, Revisiting Creedence, The Oak Ridge Boys and others.
- Next, see dinosaurs come to life at Jurassic World at the Smoothie King Center. Join a team of scientists as they rescue a dinosaur, and see such creatures as the mighty T-rex. With three shows on Saturday and two on Sunday, arrive early to see the dinosaurs up close.
- On Saturday at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, No Gravity Theatre will be performing their jaw-dropping show Divine Comedy: From Hell to Paradise. No Gravity is known for performances featuring a mix of techno, classical, and contemporary music.
- Finally, party with Nelly, Trombone Shorty and the Soul Rebels on Saturday at Shorty Gras at Mardi Gras World. Following the Krewe of Freret parade, the celebration begins at 6:30, with VIP options available. Get your tickets before this bash sells out!
