NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Entertaining musical theater, 80s bands to dance to, bat-wielding roller girls, and a celebration of all things French are on the New Orleans calendar. Here are Where Y’at’s weekend picks!
- First, take a trip back to the 80s Thursday at The Fillmore with Thomas Dolby and the Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey…performing hit singles like Dolby’s “She Blinded Me with Science” and the Thompson Twins’ “Hold Me Now.” Dress in your best 80s gear and get ready to dance the night away!
- Next, see the classic musical Anything Goes during the 57th season of Tulane University’s Summer Lyric Theater. The production starts tonight and takes place at Tulane University’s Dixon Hall. This British versus Yanks story is about unlikely lovers…and is great fun for the whole family.
- New Orleans is known for its rich French heritage…celebrated tomorrow evening during the Bastille Day Fête by the Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans. There’ll be live music, a French-themed costume contest, classic French food and wine, and more. The party takes place at 1519 Jackson Ave.
- Finally, run, and rock out to music, food, and festivities during this year’s San Fermin en Nueva Orleans. The festivities include the Running of the Bulls, El Pobre De Mí, and more! The famous Running of the Bulls starts Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. at Gallier Hall
