NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — June ends this Monday, with many vacationing ahead of the Fourth of July. But if you can’t get out of town, there are still fantastic things to do…with free movies, entertaining live music, and delicious Sunday brunch! Here are Where Y’at’s weekend picks:
- Revel in free movies this weekend at the Orpheum Theatre! Kick off with Pixar’s Coco tomorrow night…then, dive into the epic sci-fi film series Dune, parts one and two, on Saturday. No tickets are needed, but seating is first-come, first-served…so bring the entire family.
- Next, enjoy live music at Boomtown Casino’s Boomers Nightclub on Saturday night with Junior & Sumtin’ Sneaky…known for their mix of blues and country. Tickets are only $10, and be sure to grab dinner before the show at Boomtown’s Asia or NOLA Steak restaurants.
- If you like Sunday brunch with entertainment, stop into Buffa’s for a performance by Some Like It Hot! The band is known for its energetic sound, blending traditional jazz and swing with a modern flair. While brunching, enjoy specialties such as eggs benedict and refreshing frozen cocktails.
- Finally, mark your calendar for this coming Wednesday, July 3rd for Uncle Sam Jam at Lafreniere Park. Enjoy Independence Day with Chapel Hart and others as well as a firework show. This free, family-friendly event is the perfect way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities.
