Whether it’s Hurricane Katrina, the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill or the Coronavirus Pandemic, the people of Louisiana have always relied on each other to remain resilient when faced with tragedy. This is a community that firmly believes that help in the community is the backbone of everything it does in the toughest of times.

WGNO-TV is proud to be partnered with incredible organizations that believe community is everything. Below are examples of our partnerships current and past. If you have any questions on how to get involved, please feel free to reach out to Jeff Funk at (504) 569-0909.

Help The Community: Coats for Kids

WGNO-TV’s Coats for Kids is our annual coat drive that collects coats for those who need them most — children.

Since its inception over 25 years ago, Coats for Kids has donated over 75,000 coats to area children in need. Thanks for your support in making Coats for Kids a successful Southeast Louisiana tradition year after year.

Helping out is easy. Drop off a new or lightly-used coat at partner locations. We’ll take it from there, providing pick-up, cleaning and delivery to our distribution centers. Thanks to our community partners  Blaze Express Courier Service and Russell’s Cleaning Services for their continued support each year.

Coats For Kids is from late November through mid-January of each year.

In conjunction with community partners Second Harvest Food Bank and Langenstein’s, WGNO-TV helped collect food items for those who desperately need them. Please donate food items at drop off bins at any of the Langenstein’s locations. Items high in demand include canned fruits and vegetables, grits, oatmeal, peanut butter, chili, soups, pasta, rice, toiletries and beans. You can also donate at the register by adding money to your bill which will go directly to Second Harvest.

(Video) Help The Community: Save the Music Louisiana

WGNO-TV helped local musicians with our “New Orleans Music Playlist, Save the Music Louisiana” programming.

The Jazz & Heritage Music Relief Fund was created by the Foundation to support Louisiana musicians whose livelihoods have been adversely impacted by COVID-19. Click here to donate to the Jazz & Heritage Music Relief Fund.
