NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — One of Carnival’s most symbolic events is the “Greasing of the Poles” at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans on Bourbon Street.
This year’s theme is “R’evolution of Greasing” to honor John Folse, the executive chef of Restaurant R’evolution.
This year, the competitors are Trishelle Cannatella from MTV’s “The Real World: Las Vegas” and Peacock’s “The Traitors,” social media influencer Emily Smith, social media influencer Triece and 610 Stomper Dan “Maude” Sullivan.
With “Greasing of the Poles” coming up, WGNO wanted to take a look back at some of the past winners, which include local celebrities and entrepreneurs.
Royal Sonesta provided us with the winners dating back to 2016:
- 2016 — Trixie Minx (Burlesque Dancer)
- 2017 — Nikki Polk (Pussyfooter Dance Krewe)
