Post-parade Mardi Gras partying makes its way to French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The parades wrapped up on Canal Street as cleaning crews made their way sweeping up the streets. As the streets were being picked up, many parade-goers were picking themselves up and moving on over toward the French Quarter to continue the night.

“Let me tell you, I’ve been having a blast the whole time I’ve been here. It’s been awesome.”

“We’ve been having a good time. We got us some beads.”

“We’re excited. We’re very excited.”

Both Mardi Gras rookies and Mardi Gras veterans took the streets, all looking to have a great time.

“This is my first time out here. This is her, like, 20th time out here, but we’re just having fun.”

“This is like my 5th time, and it’s his 5th time, and we’re all the way from Nashville.”

The most popular spot in the quarter was, of course, Bourbon Street, which was flooded with thousands of people celebrating Fat Tuesday together.

“Everybody just being themselves. I love that. Like we be having some crazy stuff happen, but crazy stuff happen on bourbon street for real.”

“It’s been very exciting and very fun. I’m with my best friend and my boyfriend. We’re really drunk.”

When it comes to this holiday, everyone said there’s no other city they’d rather party in.

“It’s awesome. It’s awesome. It’s a great time. Everybody having a good time.”

“Just the environment. That’s what gets me.”

“We’re just going to have fun. The culture is crazy out here. I love it.”
