NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Krewes are ready to roll out this weekend in the Big Easy.
Here’s what you can plan to head to this weekend, from Friday, Jan. 26 until Sunday, Jan. 28.
Friday, Jan. 26
French Quarter
- Krewe Bohème at 7 p.m.
- The Krewe Boheme is led by the symbol of bohemian spirit, a green absinthe, and is followed by several inner krewe marching clubs. This krewe is the first parade to roll after Twelfth Night while looking to provide imagery of mystery, art and fun.
Slidell
- Krewe of Titans at 6:30 p.m.
- The Mystic Krewe of Titans gives a traditional New Orleans Mardi Gras experience with a family friendly atmosphere. As for throws, this krewe features the logo on its cups, medallions, footballs and more.
Saturday, Jan. 27
French Quarter
- Krewe du Vieux at 6:30 p.m.
- Krewe du Vieux is a parade that includes wild satire, adult themes and political comedy while also showcasing jazz and brass bands in the city.
Slidell
- Krewe of Bilge at 12 p.m.
- Krewe of Bilge is a Mardi Gras boat parade in which the krewe throws beads and other carnival treasures from the middle of Slidell waterways.
- Krewe of Poseidon at 6 p.m.
- Krewe of Poseidon features 25 floats with keepsake throws like doubloons and cups.
Sunday, Jan. 28
Slidell
- Krewe of Antheia at 1 p.m.
- This is an all-female Krewe that is active in communities of St. Tammany Parish through philanthropy. “A sisterhood of world changers” is how the krewe describes itself and feature throws like flower crowns and decorative headbands.
Marigny
- ‘tit Rex at 4:30 p.m.
- ‘tit Rex is a mini parade, but not because of its routes. This krewe is the only krewe to feature decorative shoeboxes instead of massive floats.
Pearl River
- Krewe of Pearl River Lions Club at 1 p.m.
- The Krewe of Pearl River Lions Club was created to bring the town together and consists of 15 floats that features groups such as the Pearl River High School Band, cheerleaders and churches.
New Orleans East
- Krewe of Nefertiti 1 p.m.
- The Krewe of Nefertiti’s name honors Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. It is a social aid and pleasure club that prides itself on volunteer service and celebration. Its signature throw is a piece of jewelry unique to the year it’s thrown.
