Acne and food, no relation? So we thought. There was a paper in the 1930s by Dr. Stoke and Dr. Pillsbury and that paper showed a significant relationship between food and acne.

By eliminating certain food groups, we can improve the hydration and overall quality of your skin while decreasing acne.

We want to decrease the amount of salt in our diet because salt will actually dehydrate the skin which will cause a deterrence for your body to be able to heal the acne that is already present.

Foods with a high glycemic index such as pretzels, white breads, donuts, pizza, anything with a high sugar index which will cause an increase in insulin, clogged pores, access oil, and acne breakouts.

Shell fish, such as shrimp, lobster, crabs are high in iodine. Iodine is known to clog pores and increase production of acne.

If you are finding break out in the chin, jawline or neck, this can be due to dairy products. By decreasing or eliminating these foods in your diet, you can improve the acne breakouts in the lower region of the face and neck.
