NEW ORLEANS(WGNO) – Since 2006, the Louisiana Seafood Festival has raised over $ 1.5 million to benefit members of the hospitality industry.

The festival revolves around food, music, and drinks – like everything else in Louisiana – but supports the people who help make it possible.  The fishermen, the farmers, the bus boys, and the chefs all have personal lives, and when they need assistance, the proceeds from the Louisiana Seafood Fest come in handy.

“The proceeds that we’re going to do for this are going towards flood victims that are in the hospitality industry,” said Drago’s owner Tommy Cvitanovich. “I’m very proud to be a part of it, and even our people need help.”

The festival featured 56 different menu items by 27 vendors including Drago’s, Galatoires and Luke. The highlights were the six indigenous species to Louisiana represented:  crab, crawfish, shrimp, oysters, fin fish and alligator.
