NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – It’s brand new in New Orleans.  Actually new and improved!

It’s Carnival’s Triumph cruise ship.

The ship weighs 102,000 tons.

WGNO News with a Twist features reporter Wild Bill Wood knows why people really head out on a cruise ship.

It’s to eat.

And in one week, you won’t believe how much food the Carnival Triumph serves.

Here’s what’s on the menu:

  • 2,800 pounds of prime rib
  • 6,000 pounds of chicken
  • 3,000 steaks
  • 22,000 shrimp
  • 5,200 hot dogs
  • 6,800 hamburgers

And for breakfast:

  • 920 gallons of fruit juices
  • 56,000 bacon slices
  • 1,800 pounds of coffee
  • 1,100 gallons of milk
  • 3,000 bagels
  • 20,8800 slices of toast
  • 6,200 boxes of cereal
  • 30,000 Danish pastries
  • 4,800 slices of French toast
  • 5,800 pancakes

And as for fruits and veggies:

  • 16,000 tomatoes
  • 16,700 potatoes
  • 7,220 heads of iceberg lettuce
  • 6,320 bananas
  • 3,500 apples
  • 1,430 cantaloupes
  • 1,560 pineapples

There’s 24-hour complimentary room service and a 24-our pizzeria and even more pasta:

  • 2,300 pounds of that pasta
  • 5,000 of those pizzas

Sweet success is at the end of every bite on the Carnival Triumph:

  • 1,970 pounds of cake mixes
  • 8,200 pounds of flour
  • 1,620 pounds of shortening

If you’re thirsty just reading all that, here’s what passengers consume to wash down that mountain of food:

  • 26,300 cans of soft drinks
  • 900 gallons from the bar fountain
  • 1,200 gallons of ice tea

Also on board are the BlueIguana Cantina for tacos and burritos.  And if a burger is what you’re craving, Guy’s Burger Joint is grilling ’em up.
