NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)– On Saturday night, the action spot is in the lab with these guys, DJ Slab1 and DJ Poppa.
With a whopping 1/3 of all New Orleans radios tuned into the Social Shakedown on Q93, DJ Poppa calls it a success.
“Basically number one, huh?” Poppa said. “Yeah, basically number one. That’s how I get down. Bounce music? It’s New Orleans, man, like jazz.”
He’s a popular cat with almost 80,000 Instagram followers to TeamDjPoppa, but Poppa is not only a master on the turntables, he’s also pretty serious on the water.
We spent the morning at the Violet locks, and he told us he’s studying to be a fish guide because of his passion to be on the water.
“I fish a lot. I’m in Houston Marine right now working on my 100 ton license,” Poppa said.
On this morning, DJ Poppa was also number one with the prettiest red fish of the day!
