NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Where can you go ice skating when the weather is in the 70’s?  Right downtown, at the Convention Center!

As part of the annual holiday festivities of ‘NOLA ChristmasFest,’ New Orleanians will get the chance to feel what it’s like to glide along the ice (or what it’s like to fall and get back up again!) in a sport that’s usually reserved for our friends up north.

The ice rink that’s being built inside the Convention Center is 100 feet long and 50 feet wide– half the size of an Olympic rink– with room for as many as 100 skaters at a time.

NOLA ChristmasFest opens on Dec. 18, and will stay open through Dec. 28, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  An all-day pass to the skating rink (with free skate rental) is $20.   You can also purchase a ticket to see the other festival attractions, without skating, for $5.

And can you guess which News With a Twist reporter is a former figure skater who plans to give the new rink a twirl?   Find out in our special preview reports on Dec. 16!
