NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Believe it or not, shucking oysters takes skills. Those knife skills were put to the test on Saturday at the 2016 Oyster Festival at Woldenberg Park.
Hundreds gathered at the News with a Twist stage to check out the P & J Oyster shucking contest. Contestants had to shuck as many oysters as that could in 2 minutes.
P & J Oyster Company is a local business that wanted to celebrate talented local shuckers who work at famous oyster bars in the city of New Orleans.
The winner shucked 19 oysters by the two minute time period ended.
