NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) –  Lawrence Parker III is helping students see the movie Selma.  The movie depicting Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and the civil rights movement’s fight for voting rights in Alabama is intense but the business owner says, it’s worth it.  Last weekend Parker took over 100 students to see Selma and this weekend he’s doing it again.  He says some of the kids didn’t really know the full extend of the fight that occurred in order to gain voting rights.  The money for these events so far has come primarily out of his pocket.

Parker is interested in continuing to expose kids to more history in the future, he says anyone interested in helping or with ideas should check out his website:   http://www.lawrenceparkeriii.com/
