NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)-  Can you believe that Antoine’s Restaurant has been a fixture on the French Quarter cuisine scene since 1840?

Antoine’s is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the country!

Today they held a celebration for their 175th anniversary.

Throughout the year there will be various other celebrations, fundraisers and much more to mark the mammoth milestone.

Antoine’s is known for it’s high-quality service with waiters like Sterling Constant.  He’s worked for Antoine’s for 47 years.

“It’s all about taking care of customers, so they’re satisfied when they leave,” he said.

Rick Blount’s great-great grandfather, Antoine Alciatore opened the restaurant in 1840.  Since then, the family’s made sure to maintain the restaurant’s rich history.  This year, they’ve decided to make a few additions.

“Our normal menu, we’ve changed the formatting a bit.  The food’s the same, the recipe’s the same.  The presentation has evolved a bit,”  Blount said.

Proving that Antoine’s is getting with the times.

“We know have a Twitter account for him. We’re going to have Antoine respond as if Antoine were here alive today, which should be hysterical,”  he said.

Antoine’s is located at 713 St. Louis street.  For more information, click HERE.
