NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – There’s a new dog meet up app that’s reinventing the puppy play date!
A New Orleans man created it to bring dogs and their owners together. News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez takes a look at the Pupular, which some are calling the Tinder for dogs.
There once was a pup named Lucy who was looking for a playmate.
And there once was a dog named Bobbie, who also needed a furry four-legged friend!
So watch what happens when Lucy meets Bobbie!
These two became instant pup pals, and they met on a new dog meet up app called, Pupular.
The New Orleans-based app is for dogs and their humans to come together and socialize, Creator & Founder (aka the Leader of the Pack) of Pupular”, Harry Boileau said.
“The way the app works is you first sign up and create a profile for your dog. You invite other dogs to join your pack, and then you turn on a feature called wagging, which lets the other dogs know when you want to go and play. Once your wagging, the location shows up on the app, you can then message the dog owner and pick a place to meet,” Boilea explained.
Some are even referring to Pupular” as the Tinder for dogs.
“We have a feature called ‘Flip Pup’ which is Tinder-esque, where you can discover other dogs in your area, flip through them and if they’re a good fit, you can invite them to join your pack,” Boileau said.
This app has filters like dog breed, size, age, personality type, and whether the dog is spayed or neutered.

“Our mission is to make the dogs happy and bring people together. It’s about meeting other dogs and people in your area in a comfortable social setting,” Boilea said.
Jenny Kern uses Pupular for her dog Lucy.
“Pupular worked for us! I got on “Pupular” because I always needed a playmate for Lucy because she’s so high energy. It really gets your dog out, makes Lucy happy, and she sleeps well at night after a Pupular play date,” Kern said.
Currently, there are 500 beta users in New Orleans.
