Travel Girl Tips: Glamping

If your wanderlust has you yearning for something different, here’s a popular trend to consider: go glamping!

If you love the great outdoors, but are past the days of roughing it at a basic campsite that’s complete with a simple tent, campfire, hot dogs and marshmallows, this vacation could be for you!

“Glamping” is camping on a whole new level: with posh places to lay your head, gourmet meals and even an occasional expert on-hand to help with activities such as fly fishing or horseback riding.

Here are two favorites that have been featured in Travelgirl Magazine:

The Resort at Paws Up in western Montana is the epitome of rustic elegance, set on a 37-thousand-acre working cattle ranch.  Forget the sleeping bag and out house.  From early May through mid-October, glamping here means you “rough it like a royal.” Check out these incredible campsites with fine linens, luxurious bathrooms and a camp chef. It’s a wilderness experience that can be tailored for a honeymoon, or a family reunion.

Another place for pampered camping year-round is El Capitan Canyon near Santa Barbara, CA, where all resort furnishings are handcrafted from fallen trees on the property. A camp butler is available for hire to grill and serve meals at your tent or cabin.  Guided horseback treks can be arranged.  So, you can take in magnificent views of the southern California coast from the saddle, then settle into your cozy safari tent or stream-side wood-floored sleeping yurt.
