NEW ORLEANS, La. (WGNO) – The legal battle over Billionaire Tom Benson’s empire could end Friday and after brief interviews with both sides, it appears that they’re ready for it to be over.

“I hope so, I think the judge is ready for it to end, too, and I am ready,” said Tom Benson.

“I think we’ll definitely wrap up, I feel confident we’ll be able to finish today,” said Randy Smith, Renee Benson’s attoney.

The family feud has been playing out in civil court for two weeks now.
Benson’s daughter (Renee) and grand kids (Rita & Ryan LeBlanc) filed a lawsuit claiming he’s mentally unfit to make business decisions on his own, after Tom cut them out of inheriting the Pelicans and Saints.
If both sides finish their arguments, the judge is not expected to make a decision right away.

WGNO has been closely monitoring the Benson Battle at the Orleans Parish Civil Courthouse and Legal Analyst Craig Mordock spoke with WGNO Anchor Jacki Jing about the big question: will Mr. Benson take the stand?
