NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – “We wound up doing a lot of remedial work that hadn’t been done on a while, so basically we took the building back down to its roots.”
The building’s roots date back to the late 1700s, which is why the project took a little longer than planned. The workers had to do extra steps to help preserve the heritage of this historic structure.
“I’m really excited about carrying on that tradition. That was my interest in getting involved in this project. I didn’t want it to go outside the family,” Ralph Brennan said. “To be able to keep it in the family means whole lot to me because this is the restaurant I grew up in.
One of the first upgrades is right as you walk in the front door. The kitchen and the dining room traded places so customers can have a view of downtown New Orleans.
“We came in and we decided to do a complete renovation in the kitchen. We started working on a few things and found out that we could turn the kitchen around and open up a dining room on Royal Street,” Brennan explained.
Living up to the Brennan’s culinary heritage is no short order.
The new restaurant serves up many famous fixings and some new entrees.
“The menu that we have here for both lunch and dinner well be built on some of the old favorites that Brennan’s had, and some the dishes I remember growing up,” Brennan said.
The full dinner menu will be unveiled sometime in mid- December. You can dine on breakfast and lunch from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
