NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Ritz Carlton has transformed part of its lobby into a gingerbread house for the holidays. Even the Grinch can’t deny that it’s pretty epic. The edible masterpiece is an incredible creation that has been in the works since August. It’s made up of 390 pounds of gingerbread dough, 134 pounds of fondant, 44 pounds of gum paste, 209 pounds of royal icing, 30 pounds of chocolate, and 10 pounds of piping gel. This is the first time in seven years that the Ritz has put on the incredibly realistic, walk-through ginger bread house. It’s open to the public 24-7 during the holidays. The Ritz also has over 30 Christmas trees, 850 feet of garland, 130,000 Christmas lights throughout the hotel, 250 poinsettias and over 3,000 ornaments. It’s impossible not to get in to the spirit there!
