NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – This could be the most intense and emotional presidential election in U.S. history. But if you’re not registered in Louisiana by October 11, you won’t be able to cast a vote on November 8.
Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler’s office sent out post cards to some Louisiana residents with the following reminders:
You are eligible to vote in Louisiana if you are:
- At least 18 years old on Election Day (Tuesday, November 8, 2016)
- A U.S. citizen
- Not under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony
The easiest way to register is to do it online by clicking here on the Geaux Vote website.
The Geaux Vote website will also give you access to a sample ballot and help you find your polling location.
Note, you can take care of the entire process online, or you can print an application, fill it out and mail it.
You can also register in person at your parish registrar of voters, or call 800-883-2805 to request a paper voter registration form.

As for Mississippi, the deadline to register is Saturday, Nov. 6. Mississippi has also set up an online registration portal at www.sos.ms.gov (click here).
Election Day is Tuesday, November 8.
