16-year-old accused of trying to burglarize LaPlace vape shop

LAPLACE, La. (WGNO) — A teenager is in custody in St. John the Baptist Parish for allegedly trying to burglarize a vape shop in LaPlace.

Deputies with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said that at 2:30 a.m. on June 15, they were called to respond to a business after being alerted of a glass break alarm.

Upon arrival, a 16-year-old was seen leaving the area on a bicycle wearing a backpack.

During an investigation and after reviewing security cameras in the area, deputies determined the teen was responsible for breaking the glass front door in an attempt to get inside.

The teen was found and arrested and booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional facility on charges of juvenile curfew violation, simple criminal damage to property under $1,000 and simple burglary.
