NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department reports an arrest has been made in the investigation of a shooting that left a man dead in New Orleans East in January.

On Jan. 27, officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 14,000 block of Chef Menteur Highway, where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Orleans Parish coroner later identified the victim as 42-year-old Cody Abbott.

Following an investigation, NOPD detectives said they identified 20-year-old Robert Aguillard as a suspect in connection with the shooting.

On Wednesday, NOPD officers arrested Aguillard. He faces charges of second-degree murder.
