BATON ROUGE (WGNO) – A Baton Rouge police car was damaged overnight after someone threw a Molotov cocktail at the unit, WBRZ reports.

The vehicle caught fire at about 2 a.m. It was parked at a repair shop near Tom Drive and Airline, about two miles from the convenience store where Alton Sterling was shot and killed during an altercation with two Baton Rouge police officers.

His death, along with the shooting death of Philando Castile in Minnesota, has sparked protests in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and nationwide.

Those protests turned deadly Thursday night, when a sniper shot 11 police officers after a peaceful protest in Dallas. Five of the officers died.
