Derrick Todd Lee

ANGOLA, La. (WGNO) – Louisiana Prison officials confirm that convicted Louisiana serial killer Derrick Todd Lee has died at the age of 47.

Lee was on death row for the murder of two women, Charlotte Murray Pace and Geralyn DeSoto, and is suspected to have been responsible for the deaths of five other women between 1998 and 2003 across southern Louisiana.

Lee was rushed to the hospital on January 17 for what prison officials called “urgent medical attention” for an undisclosed condition.

Pam Laborde of the State Department of Safety and Corrections confirmed Lee died shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday, but would not go into any details because of federal privacy laws.

An autopsy will be performed and an official cause of death will be released when appropriate.
