JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A state court has ordered Bunnak Landon must undergo further evaluation to determine if she can stand trial for murder.
Landon is accused of killing her boyfriend’s 6-year-old daughter and leaving her body in a bucket outside the girl’s mother’s home in 2023.
According to court documents, physicians testified that Landon may lack the ability to assist in her defense during trial. The judge ruled Landon to be committed to the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson.
The court also ordered doctors to conduct an updated competency evaluation within the next 60 days.
