NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Assured Supervised Accountability Program (ASAP) reports that an escapee is on the loose after allegedly cutting off his ankle monitor.
According to ASAP Cofounder and Director of Enforcement Matthew Dennis, at 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, officials received an alert that 25-year-old Darwin Gonzales-Munoz was last traveling near 13565 Chef Menteur Highway.
The last ping of the monitoring device showed his location at the Madere Marsh Boardwalk.
ASAP officials report Gonzales-Munoz threw the monitor into Bayou Sauvage.
Gonzales-Munoz was originally charged with domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse battery – strangulation, theft, simple criminal damage to property and domestic abuse battery – aggravated assault.
The New Orleans Police Department is currently searching for Gonzales-Munoz.
ASAP officials are advising the public that Gonzales-Munoz is considered to be dangerous and if they encounter him, do not approach him and instead call 911 immediately.
