NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The family of 15-year-old Raynard Williams, who was shot and killed in Algiers, is speaking out.
“That’s my only son. That’s my firstborn. I just want answers and I want justice for my baby,” said Andrea Robinson, the mother of the teen killed.
Monday, March 18 changed Robinson’s life forever when she got the call her son, Williams, was shot and killed while walking home with a friend. She says he was the most loving person you’d meet.
“He loved his family, he loved his grandparents, loved his sister. His teachers loved him. On every call, they never had a bad report about him,” said Robinson.
“We’ve got to come together as a community and step up for each other,” said community advocate Michael Willis.
Willis emphasizes that children must learn about crime and interaction prevention, to which Robinson agrees.
“We don’t always have to fight and then get a gun. Sometimes we are going to agree to disagree but we shouldn’t be out here losing our children at the rapid pace that we are,” said Willis.
“Every mother out there, hug your child and get them to understand violence is not the key. The blood stopped here with my child. Nobody to revenger or none of that, love peace,” said Robinson.
With the motive still unclear, Robinson wishes she could have been there to speak to her son one last time.
“I would have never gone to sleep if I knew that was going to be my last time hearing your voice. The only thing I got is like video recording to remind me. I had this baby when I was a baby and lost my baby at 15,” said Robinson.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the homicide division at 504-658-5300 or to anonymously call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
The family is accepting donations for his funeral, as well.
