LAPLACE, La. (WGNO) — Two men and two teenage boys were arrested after a car crashed into a LaPlace home on Wednesday, April 3.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a report of a stolen car driving on Cambridge Drive around 11 a.m.

Deputies then tried to pull the car over, but the driver, identified by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office as a 15-year-old boy, didn’t stop and drove away from the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, the teen led deputies on a chase that ended with the car crashing into a house on Virginia Colony.

During the chase, 18-year-old Oscar Smith and a 13-year-old boy allegedly jumped out of the car and tried to run away from the scene before they were apprehended.

Following the crash, the 15-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger, identified by the sheriff’s office as Avante Ursin, were taken into custody.

According to deputies, “two children inside the home were uninjured.”

The 15-year-old faces charges of speeding, driver must be licensed, misdemeanor reckless operation of a motor vehicle, felony illegal possession of stolen things, misdemeanor resisting an officer by flight and 21 counts of stop signs and yield signs violation.

Ursin, Smith and the 13-year-old each face charges of misdemeanor resisting an officer by flight and felony illegal possession of stolen things.
