NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Four shootings on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning have the NOPD on full alert.
Several people were injured in these shootings, and the NOPD is reporting one death. Unfortunately, no suspects are in custody yet.
Here’s the timeline of events:
7:00 p.m. Tuesday
The first shooting happened in the St. Claude neighborhood, near Franklin Avenue, shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night. NOPD officers say, one man was found shot on North Claiborne and was taken to a nearby hospital by EMS. Right now, there’s no one in custody for the shooting and the current condition of that victim is unknown.
9:00 p.m. Tuesday
Then around nine o’clock, just a little north of the first incident, a woman was injured in a shooting reported in the seventh ward. Police say the shooting broke out on New Orleans Street and ended up with a woman being shot in her leg. EMS took to her the hospital but, as of Wednesday morning, there’s no word on her condition.
10:00 p.m. Tuesday
Across the river, in Algiers, there were two shootings. Fourth District Officers received the call around 10:15 p.m. Now, the NOPD is trying to figure out who pulled the trigger on Lamarque Street, in a shooting that left one man dead. Police say they were called after a 33-year-old man was taken to the hospital, having been shot multiple times. Officers determined the shooting took place on Lamarque Street near the intersection where Verret and Vallette meet. The victim in this incident died at the hospital.
3:00 a.m. Wednesday
The final overnight shooting happened just a block away from the one on Lamarque. Police say a man was shot on Nunez Street, shortly before 3:00 A.M. The victim was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle. No other details have been provided in this incident.
The NOPD has not said whether these two final shootings are related.
As mentioned, the NOPD says they have no suspects in custody for any of these shootings.
Anyone with information on these incidents should call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
