NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A Hammond man has been arrested in connection with the death of a toddler on Wednesday, June 5.
The U.S. Marshals Service and the Maine Violent Offender Task Force reported that 23-year-old Aziayh Scott was arrested in New Orleans.
According to the USMS, a warrant was issued for Scott’s arrest in Maine on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the death of a 22-month-old child in May.
Following an investigation, authorities were led to a residence in New Orleans East, where Scott was taken into custody.
The Maine State Police, the USMS and the Maine Violent Offender Task Force worked together on the investigation.
According to the USMS, “Scott is charged as a Fugitive from Justice and will be arraigned in Louisiana pending his extradition back to Maine.”
