NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in the Gentilly area on Saturday, Jan. 27.

NOPD officials said officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 3400 block of St. Anthony Street around 2 a.m.

At the scene, police said they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside a pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, the NOPD later reported the shooting happened in the 2000 block of Lafreniere Street.

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Orleans Parish coroner identified the victim as 42-year-old Travis A. Hobbs.

The NOPD did not release any additional information.
