Houma man arrested in connection with drug trafficking, sex crimes investigation

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — A Houma man was arrested on Monday, July 1, in connection with a drug trafficking and sex crimes investigation.

According to the Louisiana State Police, 29-year-old Javonne Amacker was taken into custody after search warrants were conducted at two separate homes, one on Hibernia Place and one on Express Boulevard.

The searches were executed by detectives with the LSP’s Criminal Investigations Division Houma Field Office, the Houma Police Department Narcotics Division, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and the Homeland Security Investigations Houma Field Office.

During the search, detectives said they found around 23 pounds of marijuana, a handgun and items associated with narcotics distribution.

According to the LSP, an unidentified teenager was present during the search.

Amacker was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on the following charges:

LSP officials said detectives also discovered during the investigation that the teen had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Amacker. He was additionally charged with third-degree rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile on Tuesday, July 2.

The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit and HSI HFO were also brought in to assist with the case.

The investigation is ongoing.
