Suspected mother arrested for brutal stabbing death of infant in Seventh Ward homicide, NOPD reports

JULY 18 UPDATE: The NOPD has arrested 35-year-old Angelyc Seely in the homicide of a baby boy that occurred on Saturday evening close to 6:30 p.m.

Seely was transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment for what was reported as self-inflicted wounds.

Upon further investigation, Seely has been determined by the NOPD as the mother as well as the perpetrator in this incident and she was arrested upon her release from medical care on a charge of second-degree murder.

Seely was booked in the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Bond has been set at $500,000.

This is an ongoing investigation.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NOPD has reported a homicide at the intersection of North Broad and Columbus streets on the outer edge of the Seventh Ward.

At about 6:24 p.m. Saturday evening, the NOPD responded to a disturbance call at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an infant boy inside a bicycle trailer with apparent stab wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

An adult female was transported from the scene via EMS for further evaluation after suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information in this incident. No additional details are available at this time.

The NOPD has reported a homicide at the intersection of North Broad and Columbus streets on the outer edge of the Seventh Ward.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
