SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — The man accused of fleeing from Slidell police with an unrestrained infant in the car has turned himself in.
Emanuel Henry, 26, was originally wanted by the Slidell Police Department after he allegedly fled from officers with an unrestrained infant in the front seat of his vehicle.
On June 6, Slidell police said they saw Henry speeding down Old Spanish Trail with the infant and pulled him over at the Interstate 10 Twin Spans.
They say Henry cooperated with officers until they discovered he had outstanding arrest warrants and asked him to step out of the vehicle. That’s when officers say he drove off, leading them on a chase toward New Orleans.
Officers said after a while, they backed off to “avoid possible injury to the infant.”
On Monday, June 10, Henry reportedly turned himself in at the Slidell Police Department. He has since been booked into the Slidell City Jail on charges of:
- Two counts of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment
- Aggravated flight from an officer
- Endangering the welfare of a child
- Reckless operation
- Expired license plate
- Improperly restrained child
- Driving under suspension
