NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans police have identified a 17-year-old boy as a person found shot to death in a crashed vehicle in Mid-City over the New Year’s holiday weekend.

The Orleans Parish Coroner confirms Oliver Brown was killed after being shot on Saturday, December 31.

According to reports from the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Conti Street and David Street around 11:00 a.m. When they arrived, officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside of a crashed vehicle.

He was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Although found in a crashed vehicle, Brown’s preliminary cause of death has been listed as a gunshot wound. Other surrounding the shooting were unclear.

At this time, there is no information on a possible suspect or motive. The incident remains under investigation.
