Multiagency investigation leads to discovery of 262 pounds of meth, the ‘largest drug bust in Hancock County history’

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WGNO) — Multiple law enforcement agencies recovered approximately 262 pounds of methamphetamine in a traffic stop operation in Hancock County, Mississippi on Sunday, July 7.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the efforts from a multiagency investigation led authorities to arrest three people who were involved in the “largest drug bust in Hancock County’s history.” The large amount of meth that was in their possession had a street value of $2.2 million, according to the HCSO.

The operation was initiated following a Hattiesburg Post of Duty months-long investigation into an interstate drug trafficking organization based in Dallas and Houston, Texas.

“Make no mistake, these drugs were destined for Coastal Mississippi and posed a significant threat to Mississippians”,” the HCSO posted on Facebook.

According to the HCSO, numerous law enforcement agencies took part in the drug bust, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Hattiesburg Post of Duty, DEA Gulfport Resident Office, Hattiesburg Police Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Waveland Police Department and the Bay St. Louis Police Department.
