New Orleans police investigate deadly shooting in Desire neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 35-year-old Jonathan Rochon.


NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in the Desire neighborhood on Thursday, Dec. 28.

According to NOPD officers, they were called to the scene of a shooting around 1:04 p.m. in the 3500 block of Johnny Jackson Boulevard. Upon arrival, a man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers say the man was taken to a local hospital by EMS, where he later died from his injuries.

Through an investigation, detectives learned the victim was inside a vehicle when a dark-colored sedan drove up and started shooting.

No further details are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The man’s identity will be released after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
