NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a double shooting in the St. Roch neighborhood that left one man dead and another wounded.

According to NOPD officers, around 1:04 p.m., they received a call of a shooting in the 2000 block of Painters Street. 

Officers said when they arrived, one man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. A second man, also wounded by gunfire, was taken to a hospital by EMS.

An update on the second victim’s condition was not released.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 23-year-old Marlin Davis on Monday, April 1.
