NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that left a man and a woman dead in New Orleans East on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

NOPD officials said officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway around 3:54 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers said they found an unresponsive man and an unresponsive woman with multiple gunshot wounds inside a car in front of a business.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the man and woman were in the car when it was shot at several times, killing them both.

Dozens of officers were at the scene to assist with the investigation, with a portion of the area blocked off.

The Orleans Parish coroner identified the woman as 22-year-old Lyn’Angel Jackson and the man as 22-year-old Donte Evans on Monday, Sept. 25.
