NOPD investigating homicide that left one dead, another injured in Tulane neighborhood

UPDATE: The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 44-year-old William Bailey III.


NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that left a man dead and a woman injured in the Tulane-Gravier neighborhood on Sunday, Aug. 27.

NOPD officials said officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2600 block of Poydras Street around 5:58 p.m.

Upon arrival officers said they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. They said the man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman sustained one gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
