NOPD arrest man accused of being involved in deadly shooting Thursday morning

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives determined him to be the perpetrator in this incident. Rideau was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department arrested 31-year-old Damon Rideau in relation to a deadly shooting involving two Sewerage & Water Board workers.

According to police, Rideau was detained at the scene of the incident. Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives determined him to be the perpetrator. Rideau was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

According to police, around 9:57 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man shot in the chest.

According to the NOPD, the victim was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
