NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A SWAT roll that happened early Tuesday morning in the Little Woods neighborhood has ended with one person in custody, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

At 6:40 a.m., the SWAT team responded to the 7000 block of Edgefield Drive to serve an arrest warrant to 30-year-old Briston Hines Jr. That’s when officers say Hines ran inside and barricaded himself in the home.

At a point during the standoff, officers say Hines relocated to the roof where he stayed for hours.

According to NOPD officers, Hines’ parents were home at the time but were safely removed from the situation.

At 10:24 a.m. negotiators were able to talk Hines, who was not armed, down off the roof and he was peacefully taken into custody. He has since been taken to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked on charges of domestic abuse and simple assault.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
