UPDATE: The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 15-year-old Aniyah Heno


NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 15-year-old dead and an 11-year-old injured in New Orleans East on Sunday, Aug. 27.

NOPD officials said officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 12000 of the Interstate 10 Service Road around 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officer said they found a 15-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were transported to a hospital, where the 15-year-old later died. They said the 11-year-old is in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
