Orleans Parish Sheriff’s employee and inmate arrested in escapee incidents

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – An Orleans Parish Sheriff’s employee and an inmate have both been arrested for their involvement in several escape incidents from the jail.

Inmate Robinson is currently in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections outside of Orleans Parish.

The OPSO also arrested and booked employee Gregory Jacques on seven counts of principal to simple escape and one count of malfeasance in office.

According to a sheriff’s department press release,  deputies were tipped off that Robinson was seen outside of jail property.

The OPSO launched an investigation and Jacques was suspended without pay.

According to investigators, Jacques admitted to investigators that he escorted inmate Robinson to a residence in Gentilly.

This case was referred to the district attorney’s office for further consultation.

After reviewing the information provided, the agents were instructed to obtain warrants for the arrest of Jacques and Robinson.
