Separate shootings hours apart leave four people wounded in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a series of shootings that happened over a four-hour timespan on Monday, May 20.

The first shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the Central City area. According to NOPD officers, a man was shot in the 1100 block of South Robertson Street. An investigation revealed the victim was walking in the area when he heard gunshots and realized he had been struck.

NOPD officers said the man waved down an EMS unit and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

An update on his condition has not been released.

The second shooting happened in the St. Roch neighborhood.

At 8:26 p.m., NOPD officers were alerted of a shooting in the 1900 block of Almonaster Avenue. According to officers, the victim told them that they were driving in the area when the suspect reportedly pulled up next to them and began to shoot.

The victim was hit multiple times before the suspect drove off in an unknown direction.

They were taken to a hospital by private car, but their condition is also unknown.

The latest shooting happened at 9:24 p.m. in the Seventh Ward where two people were shot.

NOPD officers said the victims were riding in the 1800 block of North Claiborne Avenue when an SUV pulled up and shooting began. The victims were hit several times.

The suspect then drove off and the victims arrived at a hospital by private car.

The conditions were not released.
