NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Is the Landrieu administration doing enough to keep the French Quarter safe. A new commercial, created by Sidney Torres IV, asks the mayor to take action now, and asks the public to hold our leaders accountable.

Watch the anti-crime commercial below:

Torres is very familiar with New Orleans and its crime. The entrepreneur, resort developer, and former French Quarter garbage guru became a crime victim himself when his Esplanade Avenue mansion was burglarized last month.

He tells News With a Twist co-host Susan Roesgen why he believes the Mayor is failing to protect the city’s most valuable real estate — threatening the safety of both tourists and locals.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu fired back Wednesday.

“It is not as easy as Mr. Torres says,” Landrieu rebutted.  “He made millions and millions and millions of dollars off of garbage contracts in the French Quarter. Maybe he should just take some of that money and do it himself if he thinks it’s so easy. It’s just not.”
