LORANGER, La. (WGNO) — A Loranger man is facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly stabbed his mother on Monday, May 13.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported deputies responded to a call of a stabbing on Cory Road, where investigators said 28-year-old Lance Joiner had gotten into an altercation with family members after he was found attempting to harm himself with a knife.

According to the TPSO, Joiner allegedly stabbed his mother during the altercation.

They said she was able to get away, and other family members gained possession of the knife and held Joiner until deputies arrived.

TPSO officials said Joiner’s mother was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

He was arrested and faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
